For the past few years we have put in our names to be selected as one a thousands to have the opportunity to attend either the Christmas Devotional or the Christmas Concert. This year we didn't get chosen for either one :( Jared still wanted to go to the Christmas concert and asked if I would come and wait in the stand by line with him. Even though I was knew I was going to freeze I said sure because I knew he really wanted to go. We had a plan to leave at about 3:30 but Jordan was late getting off work so we didn't leave to around 5:30. We dropped Jared off while went parked the car, he called and told us to meet him at the Tabernacle instead. This year instead of waiting out in the cold the church decided to bring the standby line into the Tabernacle to stay warm and proceed with handing out tickets as you came in. We were 171, 172 & 173. They told us there was a pretty good chance that we would all get it as there were empty seats the nights before. We were maybe waiting 10 minutes when they asked for a party of 3. Nobody replied before us so we said "Um, we do." We were then introduced to Sterling Poulson, Channel 2 weather man. He escorted us down to the Conference Center and had small talk with us on the way down to get to know us. He gave us our tickets and we were in! we followed him down to the our seats which were 14 rows from the stage! We sat next to him and he said, "Is this ok?"
We replied "It's great!"
"Well you guys have a Merry Christmas, it was nice meeting you."
"Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too."
We were so excited! This is were the elite sit, right?! We sat next to Sterling, his wife and sister in law. Jordan, being very much like his dad, had a good conversation with them. Jokes were had about how we can only watch channel 2 news from now on, guaranteed weather, and more getting to know you conversation. Jared and I were a little lost since we were the ones sitting farthest away.
It was such a great experience and then to be able to listen to all of the beautiful stories and music by The Morman Tabernacle Choir, Nathan Gunn and Jane Seymore. We can't take pictures during the show so I took a couple after. One of which was trying to get Sterling(didn't work well). The concert ended and Sterling wished us a Merry Christmas once more and we parted our ways out of the building. He was so nice to come and let 3 strangers share in the Christmas spirit with him and I will always remember that night.
Pictures are located in the slide show below.
Of course, we had our down moment when after we were done eating I had a parking ticket on my car :( Oh well such is life.
